Day 18: Random thoughts

*Watching Supernanny makes me feel like I am not doing such a bad job parenting. My kids drive me nuts on occasion, but they don't hit me, kick me, bite me, curse, or draw on the walls.

*Why are the coffee filters at Walmart not with the coffee? They are by the coffeemakers. I need one coffeemaker at a time right? But I need to buy filters about once a month. It makes no sense, but then again, it's Walmart (BTW they were also out of the #4 cone filters I needed).

*If your 9 year old makes fun of you for being on Facebook "all the time," should that make you feel a.)angry or b.)guilty?

*Why do people use bigotry and intolerance as a form of family values? I don't get it. People who use the bible to justify their bad behavior are the worst kind of Christian in my opinion.

*My 6 year old has an unmatched ability to get under my skin and as soon as he has gotten there, he flashes that smile and his eyes twinkle at me and I'm like, "CRAP! Now I can't be mad anymore!"

*When my 2 year old is sick I feel very grateful that we have decided not to have any more kids. I hate the helplessness that I feel when I can't figure out what's wrong and she can't really tell me. Thankfully my kids are fairly healthy and this doesn't come up too often.

*I believe that the amount of love you have for someone is in direct correlation to how deeply they can hurt you or how angry they can make you.

* I consider myself a Christian. I was raised a Catholic, married in a Baptist church and joined an Episcopal church for a time. I have not been inside a church for anything other than a wedding in 6 years. I don't believe you have to go to church on Sunday to have a relationship with GOD. I can do that just fine by being with my family or walking through the forest.

*I believe in GOD and Jesus and heaven. I believe that the events in the bible did happen. I do not however believe in hell.

*I also believe in evolution and dinosaurs. I believe there are missing books to the bible that were removed by religious leaders hundreds of years ago.

*I'm a little surprised at how many of these ended up mentioning religion issues. Oh well! I guess that is what was on my mind today. What's on your mind?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I spend half of my visits to Ryan's dad's house rolling my eyes when they say things like, "Dinosaurs didn't live millions of years ago. God just put their bones there and made them look that old as a test of faith." Gah!!!!

  3. Good job Sis!! I love that some Christians also say that the world is only a couple of thousands of years old!! Seriously?!?!?! I believe that both things have occured....evolution and creation. Why is this so difficult for people to grasp? Because God isn't capable of both but He can create mountains, and rivers, and oceans, and stars???? Taking human physiology has made me even more convinced at the unbelievable awesomeness of GOD and how perfectly he designed us.....no matter how we got here......evolution, creation, or BOTH!!!
