My daughter has not napped well for the past two days. On Tuesday, Raley had a dental appointment right after school let out so I had to pick the boys up from school. They were “car riders” which makes them very happy. At Clay’s school you have to go inside to the gym and show your child’s “car tag” to pick them up. At all the other schools you pull up in your car in the car line and they call your child’s name to go get in and you drive away. Since we were going to have to go inside Clay’s school though, I was kind of glad that Pattie hadn’t fallen asleep yet when we picked him up at 2:25. That meant I didn’t have to carry her enormous 35 pound body and destroy my back any further for the day. Then we got in line at Raley’s school and had about 30 minutes to wait for him to get out. She fell asleep promptly when we got back in the truck. As we got to the dentist’s office, I realized I would have to lug her in there but it isn’t nearly as long a walk as into the school. We got checked in and sat down and she snoozed for a bit, but did wake up and wasn’t too grumpy. Until we got home. Then her true minimal-nap-grouchiness emerged and we had a lovely (dripping sarcasm) evening.
Yesterday there really was no excuse for her not to have gone to sleep at a normal nap-y time. We were home all day, thanks to my needing to finish the laundry and clean the house up. Yet every time I tried to get her down she would pop back up and start to play again. She finally crashed at almost 5 pm. She slept for about an hour and woke up looking like the prom queen on the morning after. Hair disheveled, red eyes, I’m-gonna-murder-somebody look on her face. I was almost done making dinner and ended up having to eat it in the bathroom while she took a bath because taking a bath is one of the only things that will snap her out of a dark funk like that. She ate in there too which was a little odd, but she was eating actual food which is a rare enough thing that we don’t care where she does it as long as she does.
Jayme is always telling me to take her to the park in the morning and she will nap like a champ. “That’s what I do on Mondays when you sub.” he says. He gives me funny looks when I tell him I would if I had the time. He thinks I am on Facebook all day which is NOT true!! I’m also on Blogger. LOL Let’s just take this week for instance…in addition to the dentist visit on Tuesday, I also sorted, washed, dried and folded 8 loads of laundry, baked 8 dozen cookies, unloaded the dishwasher, and cleaned the kitchen. Yesterday I washed, dried and folded 4 more loads of laundry, unloaded the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen, swept the kitchen floor and the bathrooms and started to vacuum the living room when I realized the vacuum belt was broken. Where in there was time to go to the park?
I had decided yesterday that we WOULD GO TO THE PARK TODAY!! I had nothing else to do in the morning and with Clay having a dental appointment after school I was looking for an early nap for Pattie. I came very close to inviting my two SAHM neighbors to go with us by posting on their FB walls, but decided to wait until this morning, just in case…
When I get up in the morning, I get on the computer. I do my morning rounds on Facebook, hotmail and Blogger. This morning, “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage you requested”…ummm, what?? Why not?? My connection is excellent!! Well, my computer’s connection to the router was fine but the modem was not getting anything. After trying all the quick fix routes, I had to call the cable company. Now I have to wait around all day for a technician. No park today. CRAP!!
Tomorrow we are going out of town for the weekend. We are leaving in the early afternoon so she will probably nap in the truck on the drive down. I could take her to the park in the morning if only she didn’t have her 2 year well check, and I didn’t have to go to the grocery store, take the dog to the vet, pack everything we need to take with us for the weekend away and hopefully, finally renew the registration on my suburban which expired 12 days ago
Fast forward three hours and the tech just left and I have a new modem for $75 but now my wireless router isn't working...really? honestly? cause I have nothing else to spend money on two weeks before Thanksgiving and a month before Christmas? Feel sorry for me yet?

I can relate! It's so easy for a person (like a husband) to suggest an activity (like the park) when that person doesn't have 7,865 other things to do (because those 7,865 things aren't important to them). Like we're all at home watching TV and eating bon-bons all day. Gah!
ReplyDeleteWhew! You ARE one busy lady. My life doesn't even compare.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't have your e-mail address, but the Scotcheroos recipe from my post yesterday was in a link at the bottom. Or here it is again: Scotcheroos. Enjoy!
