Remember last year when we did all the front yard upgrades? We put in the fence with the grapes? Here's how they are looking now:
We also added a rock bed with stepping stones along one side of the driveway so we wouldn't have to walk in wet grass if it was raining/had rained. It looked like this:
We have loved it! It has done the job we hoped and been a really good investment of time and money. There's been just a couple problems. One of them is that the curve we put in around the left side of the rosebushes, we didn't rock, so most people don't realize there are steps there and they go around the other way and don't use the walk through the rocks. Second problem is this:
We didn't put any kind of weed/grass barrier under the rocks so we have to spend countless hours pulling grass/spraying Round-Up and it is never-ending! Since we are putting the house on the market soon and we want to impress as best we can without spending a fortune on upgrades, we decided to correct our oversight and put in some landscape fabric under the rocks. First I rounded up the team and put them to work, de-rocking the bed:
When that was done, Jayme and Clay dug out along the curved path so we could rock it out too:
Then we laid down the fabric:
And put back all the original rock:
Back to Lowe's for more rock to finish it out! 10 more bags worth!! At the end we have this:
Please ignore the unsightly mess of a garage! Here, just look at this view:
And from the front door:
I like it! And I think the roses do too!
