Staying Whelmed

As we creep ever closer to our move, I am struggling mightily to not get overwhelmed (or to stay whelmed, as we have come to say). We did get to take a break for a four day weekend over Easter. We went to my folks' house and had a lovely time. We helped them prep an area for the new chicken coop (they will house our chickens for us until we are settled, and if we can't have them at our new place, they will have a great home with Grannie & Pop) and had fun just hanging out with them. Easter dinner was perfection with ham, asparagus, sweet potatoes, pasta salad, rolls and pie. That stinkin' bunny thought it would be fun to leave Raley a fever in his basket but he did his best to put on a happy face for a few pictures:
I thought this would turn out cute and it did!

He'll hug me anytime :)

On the homefront, I am waiting for my bathroom to be tiled. I took the toilet out last week because I thought the guy was coming out to get started but he was only coming out to look. I have no idea when he is coming back to get started. I have no idea how many times I have walked into my bathroom to pee only to remember there is no toilet in there. Lowe's is surviving solely on our business right now; not really but I go there so often it feels like that sometimes.
I am also "on the list" for some repairs to our fence. A very nice guy named Wayne came out and looked it over and quoted me a price. He said they book about two weeks out so it would be around the week of the 16th. I told Jayme the quote and we decided to schedule. I called the next day (Thursday) and the lady who answered took my name and number. By Monday when I hadn't heard back from anyone I called again. I told the lady I had called on Thursday but not heard back and needed to get scheduled. She said, "You say you called Thursday? Let me check my call log." Did she think I was lying?! Maybe I overreacted but that REALLY pissed me off. Then she took my name and number AGAIN and told me she wasn't sure if she would see Wayne that day so it might be the next day before he got the message. WTF? When I talked to Jayme I told him about it and I guess he thought he would call. A few minutes later I get a text from him saying that he talked to Wayne and we were "on the list". I still have NO EFFING CLUE what that means. I hate this kind of non-schedule stuff. I need a date and a time so I can be sure everything is ready, up to and including the MONEY they will no doubt expect for the services rendered.
*deep cleansing breath*
I know in the grand scheme of things this isn't a big deal but it is on me to get this done as quickly as possible. We are hoping to get the house on the market at the first of May so that it can get snapped right up and we can close at the first of June and be done with this side of the move. That gives us several weeks to house shop in Houston and plenty of time to get a place and register for the new schools for everyone.
In the meantime I play around on house search websites a little and I am happy to see a lot of houses to choose from in our price range and desired area of town. I like this one a lot, even though it is very different from all the others I have looked at and liked. I think it's pretty though. Oh well, time to get back to whatever it is I need to do today. Do any of you know what that is? Me neither!
***UPDATE*** That awesome house sold pretty soon after I wrote this. Hopefully another like it will crop up. The neighborhood it's in is REALLY nice!

  2. I was swooning over that house big time. Also thinking about moving US to Texas because holy crap, a house and property like that, with the fenced in yard and the architectural touches and all, around here would cost... well, a significantly larger amount! I mean not California prices but at LEAST fifty grand higher.

  3. That is a great picture of the kids behind the trees! Love it! They are getting so big too!

That house is awesome. I want it too. :D We'll be house shopping hopefully within the next 5 years. Exciting and nerve-wracking.
