Spring Break 2011-Days Nine and Ten

The trip from San Antonio to Crockett was a long, uneventful slog that took about 2 hours longer than we thought it would. We arrived at the land a little after 4:00 to Grannie and Pop waiting for us. It felt great to get out of the truck and walk around in our favorite lace with some of our favorite people. Grannie had an awesome pot roast waiting for us and we ate dinner under the pine trees before heading into the trailer to look through the pictures from the trip so far.

The next morning, Mom made us a wonderful breakfast and we trekked across the creek to see the redbuds in bloom. We also found some of our wild plums and pears covered in little white and pink flowers. We even saw the very first of our dogwoods had opened up just for us. Spring had sprung in East Texas!

We made as much room as possible in the bed of the truck and packed up everything we didn’t want to leave in the trailer. Then it was off for the final northern push toward home. It takes us just about two hours to get home and our little house sure looked inviting when we turned down our street. As fun as our vacation was, there really is no place like home.

It is our hope that you have enjoyed your trip with us and that we have inspired you to go see some of the things we saw on our vacation. We’d love to hear what you think of the sights and wonders that the Texas Hill Country has to offer.
Just before leaving for home
