Last week, we were out of dog food so after the boys and I got home from school, we loaded up in the truck
and moved to Beverly and went to Tractor Supply. While we were there, we thought we'd treat ourselves (and the birds in our neighborhood) by buying a bag of bird seed to put in our little feeder on the back porch. We very much enjoy watching the birds come.

On the bird food aisle they had many, many different types of food and feeders. I was longingly looking at one and told Jayme he could get it for me for Mother's Day this year. Then he said, "Wait a minute, we've got some extra money this month and you know we will never be able to find it if we don't get it now." To which I replied,
"Who are you and what have you done with my husband?" "But it costs $35!!" "Really? Thanks babe!!" It's totally cool and it has cages on each end for suet blocks so we bought two of those too. We brought it home, filled it up and sat back to see who's coming for dinner.

There are a couple other bird species that we haven't captured on film yet. It may seem like a small thing to get excited about but if you read my Dave Ramsey post, then you may have a better understanding of how unusual it was to buy this expensive (yes, $35 is expensive to us) feeder for no "purpose" other than a reward to us. We have really enjoyed it though, and we enjoy watching our little visitors :)
That's awesome. I mean, I'd never do it myself (too much bird droppings to clean), but still very cool.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy thing to buy! I love seeing birdies!
