Apparently She CAN!!

So while I was subbing for the first time this school year, Pattie and Jayme were having lots of fun at home. They went to the park not long after the boys and I left for school. She ran and played and had a lot of fun with her favorite toy (her daddy). When they got home, Jayme decided it was a good time to mow the grass. At first, Pattie "helped" by riding on the lawn mower with him. Pretty soon though she was ready to go inside. He sent her in and she was watching a movie.
Meanwhile, my class had gone to PE/Music so I had about 45 minutes of free time and I thought I would check in on Pattie and Jayme. I sent a text to Jayme's phone but hadn't heard back after about 20 minutes so I called. Just when I thought it would go through to voicemail, someone picked up the phone and pressed a couple buttons. Then I heard, "Hi Momma!"
"Hi Sissy! How are you?"
"I good! I miss you."
This goes on for a few minutes and I say, "Can you give the phone to Daddy? I want to say Hi to him."
"I don't know where he is."
"WHAT?!?!"
"Oh, I memmer (remember). He mowing."
"Okay, can you take him the phone?"
"Yep."
CLICK. DIAL TONE.
I waited about 10 more minutes and called back. Not so many rings this time, and no button pushing. "Hi Momma!"
"Hi Sweetie. Did you find Daddy?"
"He mowing."
Then I hear Jayme's voice as he evidently comes in the house and says, "Sissy, did you find my phone?"
"Yeah, I talking to Momma."
Jayme didn't realize she was actually talking to me so I started yelling into the phone, "I'm really here!! HELLO!?!!"
Jayme got on the phone and he had been outside and she had answered the phone all by herself. I'm just glad it was me and not some salesman! I guess we need to take better care of our phones from now on though!

  1. Yeah, my daughter's not only figured out the caller ID (and therefore answers the phone with "Hi Daddy" when I call), but she also memorized my extension, and calls me at the office (my main office number is a speed dial). It's pretty cool that your daughter can do that at three.
