I still can't believe it!

We had a trip this summer that worked out perfectly!!!!! How cool is that? We made great time on the way down Friday and arrived a whole hour earlier than we thought we would. No body got sick or hurt! My in-laws new house is gorgeous. We loved the old house too but the new house is so roomy and full of light. The kitchen is enormous which is a big plus in our family because we love to cook and eat and visit.
Saturday evening we went over to Jayme's brother's house for our niece's birthday dinner. Baron  made hamburgers on the grill while the kids swam in the pool.
Sunday everyone came over to the new house. I made Chuy's Creamy Jalapeno Dip and banana pudding. Nana made potato salad and pasta salad. Erika made her kick ass salsa and a green salad. Papa had been smoking a brisket all night long and with it he made some grilled veggies including onions, a squash we brought from our garden and okra. O.....M.....G!!!!! That was amazing!

The big hit on Sunday (for Pattie) was we finally got to meet the newest member of the family, Raley Grace Carson. Pattie was in love!
We left the boys there for the rest of the week and other than some rain, we had an uneventful trip back home. This is Jayme's last week on the weekday schedule, so our lives are about to flip over, but we are hoping it will be (mostly) seamless and not too jarring. But if it turns out to be Chaos, we'll just Embrace it :)

  2. Sounds like a great trip.

Smokers aren't as common up here, so I've never tried to smoke my own brisket, but it is definitely something I want to try.
