Lucky Find

Last week I saw some beside tables that I liked advertised on a resale shop's FB page. They wanted about $160 for the pair and I went to buy them. For some reason, once I got there I changed my mind. You have to understand that my hubby and I have used cardboard boxes as bedside tables since, I think 2001. We finally threw them out very recently and I have been planning to get some honest-to-goodness bedside tables for our new house. In any case, I decided not to buy the ones I had seen at the resale shop.
Later that day a neighbor stopped by to see how the house listing was going and he said, "Hey, we just bought some new bedroom furniture. I know y'all are getting a bigger house when you move and I thought you might need another bedroom set for it. Would you like to see it?" I said sure and walked over. It was a very similar style and color to the ones I had looked at in the resale shop. They had the two bedside tables (each having 2 drawers), a long low dresser with 4 large and 4 small drawers, a mirror and a high-boy dresser with 6 drawers. I tentatively asked what they wanted for the set and almost fell over when he said, "We'd take $200." Needless to say, as soon as my hubby had seen and approved of them, I went to the ATM and got them some money.
This will work out very nicely because we can give our existing dressers to the boys for their new rooms and then everyone should (finally) have enough clothing storage that we won't have to switch out winter for summer anymore. Very cool for me since I usually take that chore upon myself.
Now I am very happy not to have spent the money at the resale shop on two pieces when for $40 more I got 5!!
