Well, it wasn't exactly what we planned, but it was a great one! The weather was against us so we did not go to the land this year. We just couldn't see a way around it with 3 kids and 2 dogs in our trailer and 3 dogs in Grannie and Pop's trailer. We would have been breaking up fights (kids) and wiping off paws (dogs) the whole time. So Grannie and Pop came to our house instead and we had a blast.
On Wednesday, the kids and I made Handprint Turkey shirts for them and one for Grannie.
Thursday morning, I made the pumpkin pie and the cornbread for the dressing. Then we took a little break. Grannie had brought her counter-top roaster to cook the turkey in so the oven would be free. At first we were going to put it on top of our freezer in the garage but when the temperatures started to plummet, we had to move it inside on top of the washer. The rest of the dinner went together easily and we even managed to keep up with the dishes so that the kitchen was fairly clean as we sat down to eat.
By 5:30, the dishwasher was running and everything was cleaned up. We watched a little Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and ate dessert and vegged on the couch for the rest of the evening.
I hope your Thanksgiving was full of family, fun, food and fabulous memories!!

Cornbread stuffing?!? Do you use only cornbread, or do you mix it with white/wheat too? That sounds amazing. We only ever use toasted white bread.
ReplyDeleteGlad your Thanksgiving worked out for you.
