So something happened today that was the culmination of a battle I had given up for lost...but I WON!! Allow me to give you the background:
We eat a LOT of Nutella around here! It should be it's own food group, you know. It is awesome for breakfast spread on toast or a bagel. It's ideal for lunch on a peanut butter sandwich. Dinner? No problem! And dessert? FUGEDDABOUTIT, we gotcha covered! So anyhoo, I was poking around on the internet and found the Nutella website and I saw that you could save up the gold foil seal from the jars and get stuff...for free! No shipping, no handling, no tax. Just eat Nutella (easy part) and wait )hard part). Sign me up!! We meticulously opened the jars and saved up seven seals and I made our order. A t-shirt, to-go coffee tumbler and a spreader knife. I was so excited.
A few weeks later I get this letter in the mail saying that my order cannot be honored because "proofs of purchase not included or not original". EXCUSE ME?! I DON'T THINK SO!! I fired off a very angry e-mail to them asking what the exact problem was since the order form asked only for the gold foil seals and I know I sent them in. *crickets chirping* No reply. I was heartbroken, stopped saving the foil seals and truthfully, kind of lost my taste for Nutella (for about 10 minutes).
Today, I saw our sweet mail lady coming up to the house with a medium sized package. The return label said "Ferraro" (as in Rocher!!) and I was so excited I got a little stupid about it, I'll admit it. I jumped up and down screaming, "I WON! I WON! I WON!" I think Jayme may have been expecting a leg lamp or something so when I showed him my loot he was less than impressed until I reminded him about the letter they had sent (which is on my fridge as I type this). I fought the MAN baby!! And WON!!
Pattie and I ran errands today and one of them was going to Hobby Lobby. I love Hobby Lobby and I have not been in ages! It really gave me a jump start on the Holiday spirit! I bought some tiny ornaments to put in our Advent calendar, a string of bells that I plan to hook onto the dogs for at least one walk(!), some cute letters to put with our stockings (but they were out of Ts so I will have to go back for Tufaan's) and a little ornament with a Gingerbread family that gave me a gift idea I am not going to talk about just yet. Pattie has really helped out with my Christmas spirit this year. I am usually quite grumpy about Christmas stuff prior to Thanksgiving but she is SO EXCITED that I am just loving her cuteness about it and paying less attention to the date on the calendar.
As we left Hobby Lobby I gave Pattie 2 quarters to put in the Salvation Army bucket outside. I do this for the whole season. Whatever kids are with me get some coins to put in. I figure by the time they are gone, I have donated $10 - $15 and the kids love it! Well the guy outside Hobby Lobby made Pattie's day by giving her a small bell all of her own. She was so excited and cute! I got a little worried as we left Walmart and she put 50 cents into that bucket that she would get mad if she didn't get another bell, but she was good about it. This Christmas is going to be a special one with her being old enough to understand what is happening a little bit!
