During Jayme's last trip home (he was here all week!) we were able to do a few more "gardening" projects. I have never liked using the word garden for yard but there isn't really another word for working in your flowerbeds, is there? In any case, as spring makes her appearance this year, we are seeing more and more green in our yard and making some replacements. We pulled three more holly bushes out of the front flowerbed and replaced them with two blueberries. That makes six hollies we have pulled out and we still have four. I don't know why the builder put in so many of the same thing!
As we were taking the blueberries out of the pots that Lowe's had them in we saw this sticker:
According to this, the blueberries came from a nursery in the town we just moved away from. It made us happy that they came from our old town. Clay also got a strawberry plant and put "him" in the front bed.
I found a cute little miniature rose at Trader Joe's so we planted it and one I bought at Kroger.
Now there are roses on three sides of the birdbath. The remaining holly bushes have these cute little flowers on them and they are attracting bees.
Our fig tree has some tiny figs forming!
The peach tree has had so many blooms! We are not letting them produce peaches this year but we kept the blooms on. Now we have leaves coming out.
The Beautyberry plants we dug up at the land and replaced the first three holly bushes with have survived the winter and are doing great. It makes me very happy because I remember Luke being there with us when we dug them up. It was his last trip to the land before we buried him there.
I think our front bed looks very welcoming and green now!
And our front door, too.
The last thing we did was make a small herb garden in our old iron pot. I put a cherry tomato in the middle and have some lavender, rosemary, basil and cilantro in with it.
I hope spring has sprung nicely for you at your house!

Cute! You guys are going to be saving a ton of money by harvesting half of your groceries!! Love your herb garden, too. Nothing better than some fresh herbs to liven up a dinner.
