Hello all! We had a lovely time on our Spring Break trip to family in our soon-to-be new town/hometown. Also very busy at home with kitchen beautification and that will be a post of its own later today or perhaps tomorrow. In the meantime, I grabbed this from Semi-desperate Housewife and it looked fun!
First thing is a recent picture of yourself. I have been using this as my profile pic on Facebook and a lot of people have commented on it; I am rather fond of it too!
Now for Part 2: Eleven Things You Don't Know About Me
This will be a little hard because if you read my blog you probably know a lot about me, but I will try to think of new things!
1. I'm a bit of a grammar snob. Although I am not perfect in my own writing or speaking, I have a few major pet peeves when it comes to speaking and spelling errors. Just the other day I took a very dear person aside and asked them to please stop saying "heighth" because it was like an icepick to my skull each time I heard it. I am particularly hard on teachers who make such errors because I feel as though they should try harder.
2. I have been reading The Complete Sherlock Holmes and I am enjoying it very much. I am on page 1282 of 1755 and hope to finish it soon. I can't stand to read more than one thing at a time and so I have to finish this before I can start either The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo or The Hunger Games
3. While enjoy wines, usually Riesling or White Zinfandel, I prefer to drink beer but I am a beer snob to a degree. I do not like anything by Bud, Miller or Coors! I'm more into Shiner, Sam Adams, Blue Moon and other craft-type breweries.
4. If I had a whole day to myself I would spend most of it wondering what the clones were doing and wishing they were back home! But I would also read and eat lots of snacks.
5. I have a big list of things I want/don't want in my next house that I will give our realtor when we move. Feel bad for him/her!!
6. I'm a flavored creamer junkie! Some of you DEFINITELY knew that :)
7. I watch the cartoons my kids like even when they aren't home. "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic"!!
8. I drive my boys crazy about their clothes. I was made fun of a lot growing up because of the clothes I wore so I don't like for them to wear anything that is too short/small or ragged looking.
9. I believe in treating your dogs like members of the family. I believe that includes discipline when they don't behave, and not feeding them things that aren't good for them. I believe they are dogs, not people but that doesn't mean I don't love them very much.
10. Of all the things we have to do to get the house ready to sell, the one I am dreading most is painting our room and the bathrooms. I HATE PAINTING!!! I will not buy a house if I have to repaint it immediately because the colors are awful. Unless it's a really great price.
11. I will get crazier and more anxious as our move gets closer. For those of you that I see in person, I apologize in advance for being so. For those who just pop by and read the blog, you may have some rants to read in the next few months. I'll try to be good!
Now Part 3: Answer the eleven questions posted by SDH
1. Did you ever take music lessons of any kind? If not, did you wish you could
have?
I did briefly explore the piano with my mom. She took lessons as a child and we had one in the house but I never would let her teach me things like that. I wish I had. When we move, we will get the piano that I grew up with from my grandmother and I want Pattie to play
2. Do you follow any professional or college teams?Baseball - Houston Astros
Football - Houston Texans and whoever is playing the Dallas Cowboys
College - We root for the school we graduated from, Sam Houston State and Jayme got his Master's from OU so we follow them as well
All that being said we don't "follow" any sport in such a way that we watch every game or get very fanatical about it.
3. What
type of shoe do you most commonly reach for? Before the last couple weeks I would have answered with Crocs (I have many different styles) but I recently bought my first pair of boots since high school and they are very comfortable so I have been wearing them a lot.
4. Do you wear makeup every
day? If so, is it just a little, or the full treatment?I haven't worn any makeup other than mascara for years and I don't even wear that any more because I ran out and can't find another one I like.
5. What was your
favorite book as a kid?As a kid I loved Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
6. What's the worst injury or illness you've ever
suffered?I have been incredibly lucky not to have any major injuries. With my childhood growing up around horses you would have thought I'd have gotten hurt a few times but when I did it was minor. Does a 3rd degree tear during childbirth count? LOL
7. What is your favorite memory with your
grandparents?Mom's side: Going camping at the land and when they came to San Diego to visit when I was 10 Meemaw convinced my dad to let me get my ears pierced.
Dad's side: They had a lovely house in Bakersfield and I loved watching GrandMom make cinnamon rolls from scratch on Saturday morning
8. Have you ever adopted a pet from a rescue
shelter?YEP! We got our Lab mix, Luke from the shelter when we were at Fort Hood. Three days later we found out he had Parvo and it cost $800 to treat him through it (there's no cure) but we did it and he has been the best dog ever! Also Ginny, our yellow Lab came from a shelter in San Antonio.
9. What color do you look best in?I am very critical of myself so I can't really answer this one. I tend to wear very plain earth tones and everyone is always telling me to wear brighter colors.
10. What's your
favorite kind of baked good?Peach Pie! Forever!
11. What's the boldest wall color in your
home?We have three different colors in our house: Very light blue in the boys' room, light yellow in Pattie's and light tan everywhere else. So, the yellow?
Now Part 4: Eleven questions for you to answer. I don't know the exact rules here but a couple of SDH's questions I really liked so I am stealing them!
1. Have you ever adopted a pet from the shelter/pound?
2. Is there anything you judge people on?
3. What is your food weakness?
4. What is the worst injury/illness you have had?
5. Would you ever have plastic surgery or have you already?
6. If it was your 15th anniversary and your husband asked what you wanted to do to celebrate, what would you say?
7. What do you wish you had known in high school that you know now?
8. Do you have a laundry routine or do you just throw in a load every day?
9. Do you have more kids than you thought you would or less or the exact number?
10. Are you doing the job you always wanted?
11. What would you do if you had a whole day to yourself?
That's it! If you decide to do it too, leave a comment telling me so I will be sure to check it out :)
