#1--When choosing a class t-shirt color, please think about what age of child you are dressing with it. Remember that this is the shirt they have to wear on field trips and special days at school. For example, Kindergarteners should NEVER be required to wear a white shirt!! This is what Clay's shirt looks like pretty much every time he takes it off at the end of the day:
#2--Similarly, please take into account that you will not have a class of only girls unless you teach at an all-girls school. My 10 year old SON is forced to wear this on every field trip and special day at school which is almost every Friday. He rides the bus people!!
**Last Thursday Raley was "chosen" to be responsible for making KoolAid playdough for himself and two classmates to be used in a fossil assigment this week. The note he brought me had three different recipes and said to please have the dough in by Monday. I thought, "Okay, cool. We can make it together and take pictures and I can post it on my food blog." At bedtime Sunday night, Raley said, "Goodnight Mommy. What about that dough stuff?" ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!! About 30 minutes later I got up and went into the kitchen to get out the things I needed and make the dough. As I got down the salt, I realized there was no way I had enough. Each batch called for 1/4 cup of salt. I had enough for one batch. All my neighbors were surely asleep or close to it at that time of night. I raced to the grocery store and was able to make it inside just before they closed for the night. Only one check out lane was open, and of course, I was behind a lady who evidently waits until this time of night to buy enough food to feed the entire population of a small island country. You should have seen this cart!! Made me wish I had a camera phone. Anyway, by 11 pm I had finished the dough and put it in Raley's backpack and trudged off to bed. When he got home yesterday I asked him how the project went. Guess what? They didn't do it yet!
**Next week Raley has the remaining two portions of the TAKS test and the end of the school year is coming up fast. We found out that the kids have to make up the day school was out for our snow storm so the last day of school will be Tuesday, June 1. I am sure there will be a LOT of absences that day!!

I can't believe they chose pink for a class t-shirt colour. (Also: class t-shirt colour? Brilliant. Never heard of it before.)
ReplyDeletePink? Seriously...who chooses pink for a class shirt? Poor guy.
