Easter 2010

For Easter this year we had planned a trip down to our land with my parents (Grannie and Pop). We were going to head out on Friday afternoon and come home on Sunday evening. Then the weather got questionable and my parents decided they would just come to our house on Friday and we would all go to the land for the day on Sunday. We had so much fun. On Saturday we took Grannie and Pop to Tyler State Park and walked the 3/4 mile Interpretive Trail. Two of my mom's favorite trees are Redbuds and Dogwoods and both are in bloom right now. She was in heaven!!

Since we wouldn't be together for dinner on Sunday, we had our "Easter dinner" on Saturday night. It has become a tradition in our family to have beef on Easter and we had some lovely steaks, baked potatoes, beans, and pasta salad (since the clones don't like baked potatoes or beans). Saturday evening Clay finally lost the tooth that had been flapping in the breeze for several days and was very excited at the prospect of the Tooth Fairy AND the Easter Bunny coming on the same night. His Tooth Fairy money was in a plastic  egg under his pillow the next morning.

Sunday morning after seeing our Easter baskets, sampling one or two things and having a quick breakfast, we loaded up in the truck and headed to Crockett. We had a lovely day, checking on our trees, planting two new pecan trees, and playing in the woods. We hid eggs for the clones to find and enjoyed being together in our favorite place. Jayme even managed to snap this picture of Mom's two favorites intertwined with each other:

While we were eating lunch we were talking about Spring and how pretty everything is and Clay said, "It's Spring? I thought it was mating season." I was not quite able to keep from laughing and Jayme had to take over the situation. We have been watching the new series "Life" on the Discovery Channel and we watch a lot of nature-themed shows in any case...I guess he is paying attention. Later, on our way home he asked, "What happens if you don't mate in mating season?" Again, it was all up to Jayme as I was trying hard not to crash the truck as I shook with laughter (if you know me well enough you know that my eyes almost close completely when I smile or laugh...add the tears and I was not having an easy time seeing the road just then). He said, "Well, buddy, I guess then there won't be a baby."

In other news, Pattie has FINALLY let us put her hair up in a ponytail. Unbearable cuteness ensueth:

All it took was Jayme saying,"You want to look like a horse?" Kind of made me feel like, Why didn't I think of that?? Also, thanks to the oodles of Starburst Jellybeans (aka food of the Gods), we have implemented the reward phase of potty training. Every time she goes potty she gets a jellybean of her choice. So far she likes orange. This is the way we enticed her brothers to use the potty more and it worked great for them, so we hope it works well for her. Each time she goes we cheer and celebrate and she will even cheer for us. she says, "Good girl, Mommy!" with such enthusiasm I can't help but smile and laugh. After she goes I will say, "Way to go TeeTee Potter!" and her smile lights up the room.

  1. Yeah, my daughter used to inform us which strangers had penises and which ones had vaginas. Kids are ALWAYS paying attention, if only so they can use that information to embarrass you at a later time.
