Last Day of School

Well, it's over! Today was my official last day of subbing. For some reason through all of Jayme's exciting interviews and stuff, it didn't dawn on me until last week that once he starts his new job and adventure, I would be unable to sub anymore. That realization hit me harder than I would have expected. I have so enjoyed my time at the various schools here and the friendships with the local teachers are ones I will always treasure.
I think it was fitting that my last day was spent with the wonderful staff at our Early Childhood Center. I was in a preK class today. Back in 2008, the very first day I subbed here was in a preK class too. I remember being very nervous. I remember seeing a little boy who reminded me of Clay, and I remember him trying to kick me and telling me to go away. I almost cried! Later though, that same little boy became one of my sweet little friends, and I often think about him today and wonder where he is. He'd be in 2nd grade...
The ladies at ECC made me feel so very special today too. Sweet Aimeé sent everyone an e-mail and put a note on the board in the lounge that it was my last day. Everyone wished me luck and I got so many hugs before I left. I can only hope that wherever we end up, there will be a sweet school like that to send my Pattie to and know she will be well loved.
Now it's on to our new phase, or I guess you could say back to our old ways. Pattie and I hanging out while the boys are at school. Shopping during the week! And early in the day! When there aren't  a million other people in the store! I can't say I will miss the Saturday midday grocery store crowds, that is for sure. Hopefully I will blog more and try more new recipes and post them too. We will have to establish some new ground rules around here and I will be training the boys to do some new chores. Step one started last night when I instructed Raley in the ancient art of Loading the Dishwasher. He'll be a black-belt in no time :)
