Christmas Recap

Well, it's come and gone! Christmas 2011 in Chaosville was pretty good. No one was actively ill, although Clay was recovering from something. We went to bed at a semi-reasonable hour Christmas Eve, although we did have to remove Pattie from the boys' room at 11:15 because they were not going to sleep. Within 15 minutes of that no creatures were stirring, except for a mouse on the back porch that Ginny dispatched with great cheer. (yes, really)
Jayme and I woke up before any of the kids Christmas morning and he tried to talk me into giving him a "present" but the kids started waking. Clay was VERY grumpy when Raley tried to wake him and not much better for me. Pattie's eyes popped open at the first mention of "Santa" and soon enough they were in Christmas morning mode.
For the most part, I think the kids were pleased with their gifts. I know I was pleased with mine. About an hour after opening the last gift I realized that Jayme had not opened his from the rest of us. He didn't seem to notice he hadn't gotten much! We talked so long about what to have for breakfast that we never actually made anything.
Jayme took out some T-bones to thaw for dinner and as they got ready to season he discovered there were two in each of the four packages he had taken out! We enlisted the help of some friends to take the extras off our hands. Dinner consisted of grilled steaks, green bean casserole and mashed potatoes. Not too shabby!

Clay is thrilled with the camera that Santa brought him now that he has an SD card and can take pictures with it. The onboard memory only help one picture!! Jayme remembered that the mini-SD we bought for our cell phones had an adapter and it fit the new camera just fine. But maybe his favorite is the AirSoft BB gun our neighbors gave him.

Raley loves all his gifts. We got him his own starter tool set that he really likes, but his favorite might be the rockets we are going to shoot off soon.

Pattie has told me so many times, "Mommy, I am enjoying my board thing." "Board thing" is what she calls my Nook Color and since her new LeapPad is a similar item she calls it one too.

Of course, this is only Christmas Round 1 for the kids. We are heading down to visit family tomorrow and we will have Christmas Rounds 2, 3 and 4 in the next few days. I think I will enjoy this the most though because I have missed our family so much lately and I can't wait to spend even a little while with them. I hope your Christmas was bliss and your new year will be everything you hope for. See you next year!!
