Recovering

In the days since the appendectomy, Jayme has done pretty well. He came home late Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday he managed to walk down the street two driveways down. As we were heading to bed, he said that he wished he could pass the gas that was bubbling around hurting his guts. I started to make a funny comment but stopped because laughing hurt him too. Unfortunately he had already started to laugh. Laughter soon turned to pained groans as he tried desperately to stop. He thought he might have torn a stitch and made me check but it looked fine. We made a mental note NOT to be funny anymore.
Thursday, Pattie had her recheck appointment in Dallas with the pulmonologist. Raley went with me and Clay stayed home to help Jayme with anything he needed. Before we left, Jayme and Raley made it all the way around our block; slowly but surely. He had also stopped the vicodin and switched to ibuprofen. Pattie's checkup went well. The doctor is pleased with her current level of meds and wants to see us back in October.
When we got home I was hot and tired so I changed into a summery dress that is super comfy. I elected not to wear anything under it up top (if you know what I mean). Jayme was lying on the couch and asked me to sit with him so I did. A little while later he asked for a kiss so I bent down to give him one and had a......wardrobe malfunction (if you know what I mean). Clay happened to be standing right there. He said, "I guess this is a bad time." and ran out of the room. It was hilarious. And Jayme almost died. Literally. I changed clothes.
Later that day, Jayme said something funny and I had to run out of the room so he wouldn't laugh anymore. He went to take a shower and then he called my mom to tell her that I was trying to kill him! I took the phone and told her the real story, then Jayme talked to her again. But he started laughing again and had to hang up. This no laughing thing might kill all of us! You never realize how much you joke and laugh with each other until you aren't supposed to!
Hopefully today will be better than yesterday and tomorrow will be better still. The clones and I are heading out for our trip to Maryland in a few days. Jayme can't go back to work until after he sees the doctor again on the 12th so he is going to come with us to Houston and take us to the airport. Then he is thinking he will stay around there and spend some time with his folks and a few of our friends in the area.
Hopefully this puts an end to the gut issues he has. If it truly was his appendix after all, it should be the end. We shall see...

  1. Just catching up... what an ordeal! I can't believe they rushed him in and then rushed him home so soon. I hope he recovers soon.
