Whose house is this?

"Whose house is this?!" I catch myself saying that now as I walk from my room back out to the living room and kitchen. It's cool but a little jarring too. We have done so much to change things around here in the last month it really does feel like a new house. Even Clay said, "Mommy, it seems like we moved into a different house."
You know all about the floors and the paint already. Well, when we painted we had to take everything off the walls. And when the kitchen was in progress a lot of stuff in there found a temporary home elsewhere. In the last couple weeks, we have been slowly putting things back. Only thing is, almost NOTHING has gone back to the same place it was before!
Things that used to hang in the living room are now in the dining area. We flipped the items that were on the two walls in the living room and our hallway which used to be covered with pictures through the years of our family is just starting to get re-covered. Some of the same pictures have gone back up but in different spots and we are *gasp* printing new pictures to put up too!
Just to give you a hint, I used to unload my camera onto the computer every month, burn a disk, head to Walmart and get pictures printed then bring them home and put them in albums and a favorite or two would be framed and put up somewhere in the house. I stopped printing pics in September 2008 to "save money".
Furniture has not been spared the change-machine! Our computer desk used to be by the back door in our dining area. It got moved to the living room after the floors were done and while I hated it being where it was, I loved not having in the dining area anymore. Since we have a major event coming up this weekend (our little teeny tiny first baby boy is turning 11 on Thursday so it's party time) we decided to go all out and buy the new couch and love seat we've been eye-balling since February. With the new furniture in the room, we were able to fit the computer desk into the corner and I really like it's new spot. It also got a severe de-cluttering so it isn't a major eye-sore in the heart of our house.
We finally finished the collage of our Spring Break trip and hung it above our mantle. The idea is that we will have our most recent family vacation immortalized and anyone who comes over can see right away that being together is the most important thing to us.
All in all, I think we are done buying anything new for a while! We need to sit back and enjoy it and it's just in time too. With the end of school in sight, we are looking forward to a summer full of fun and happy memories. Hopefully no hospital visits or other catastrophes?!
I do have some pictures of the new stuff but I took them before we were done placing everything so I don't want to post them. Sorry, I'm just mental that way sometimes. HOWEVER! Since we do have so many people coming this weekend, the house will get pretty clean this week and I will take pics and ,maybe even a walk through video and post it, I PROMISE!

  1. Honestly? Just thinking about doing that level of change in our house gives me the shakes.

  2. Can't wait to see the pics! And once I show them to Ryan, maybe that will inspire him to finish stripping the wallpaper above our kitchen cabinets so that I can start painting!!
