October Catch-Up

Well, it has been entirely too long since I last posted!! October 18th?! Really? Let's see what has been going on since then.....
I've subbed in Kindergarten and 2nd grade lately. I got my biggest paycheck ever yesterday! Very exciting for me, although if I told you the amount you would probably choke. You would have to keep in mind that I have never had a full-time job. In any case, it was a great feeling for me to contribute to our holiday funding.
We made the last payment on Pattie's hospital bill! They can't repossess her now (hahaha). Now we are doubling the payments on Jayme's bill to get rid of it quicker. We are also looking into the near future for the kinds of things we will want to buy once that bill is gone. We have been putting off several things for the house and some of them would be GREAT!
Jayme fought and won an argument with our mortgage company and now we are responsible for our own escrow account. He was very happy as he had been trying to accomplish this for many months now.
My parents came up on Friday and Saturday went with the clones and I (Jayme had to work) to a family party (my mom's family) in Shreveport. They have a big Halloween party every year and it's so much fun. All the kids run around in the backyard and they set up a haunted house in the rear portion of the yard (the kids make it so it isn't really scary, just fun). They have a pinata that usually takes a tremendous beating to break open. In previous years it has fallen off its hanger without busting open, and one time the baseball bat they were using to hit with actually broke but the pinata did not! The clones wore costumes that they came up with on their own. Raley was a pirate named "Crook'd Tooth Mike" and Clay was a crime-fighting bounty hunter named "El Diablo" while Pattie wore a pretty dress and fairy wings. When someone asked her if she was a princess or a fairy she said, "No, I Pattie."

Waiting for their turn at the pinata
When we got home on Sunday, Jayme told me that he would need to work on Tuesday night to help out the weekday night shift. To make up for it, he had Monday night off. Mom and Dad left Monday late morning and soon after they left, Pattie threw up the spaghettios she had just eaten. Did I mention she was sitting on my lap at the time? Thankfully she gave me a little warning and I was able to make it to the sink with her, but still....BLERK!
Unfortunately it was not a one-time thing and she continued to throw up and sleep most of the day. Late last night she was pathetically asking for milk so I tried just a small amount of almond milk in her cup which she drank but could not keep down long. It was a long night of me trying to get her asleep enough in her bed for me to go to my own. Needless to say I did not sleep much or well. She did try some more almond milk in the wee hours of the morning and that stayed down as has everything she has had since so maybe we are past the vomit stage of this. One of my cousins who was at the Shreveport party told me one of her kids was throwing up too. I guess "kissing cousins" can spread more than love? I have every available appendage crossed that no one else gets it, especially Jayme or myself.
If you like pumpkin-flavored things as much as I do, be sure to click over to the food blog. I have been making lots of pumpkin recipes and they are turning out so yummy! I have another one ready to post, I just need a good picture of the end result. Unfortunately (?) we ate them all so I have to make another batch first.
I feel like I say this a lot and then don't do it, but I am trying to post more often. I am working on a post about what Jayme and Pattie do while I am "working" that I hope will turn out cute. In the meantime, thanks for visiting!!

  1. Hurray for paying off Pattie's hospital bill! We're almost done paying for Ryan's (thank goodness).

May I suggest you add chocolate chip pumpkin bread to your list of pumpkin goodies? It's even better than cranberry pumpkin bread (and that stuff is awesome).
