Jayme's Birthday Post

35 years ago today, my one true love was born.

Yep, it’s every bit as mushy as it sounds. In every way I can think of, he completes me. Here are a few things I love about him:

He can talk to absolutely anyone! As an almost cripplingly shy person, it is amazing to me sometimes how he can strike up a conversation with a stranger and end up knowing details about their lives that are bizarre or unusual. He just has one of those faces that people trust, I guess.

He is an amazing father to our kids. He is nurturing, calm, gentle (but firm when needed), and FUN! I am often jealous about his ability to make everything fun and go with the flow instead of getting worked up over what SHOULD be happening like I am prone to do.

He really is my best friend. We have a great marriage but we WORK at it. We don’t take it for granted. We don’t always see eye-to-eye but that’s okay!

When he is working outside, he is totally in his element. He reaches an almost Zen state when he has a chainsaw in one hand.

The only time he seems to be more Zen is when he is at home doing an activity he calls “weeding with the chickens” (whenever he is weeding around our trees, the chickens run over and start scratching around with him. I guess since we don’t have a rooster, they are looking for some male attention).

I love how happy growing a beard makes him. Now don’t get me wrong…I HATE the beard! (It looks good on him but it’s scratchy) But he is so funny about it and so cute. He starts to grow it earlier each year and keeps it longer too. Last year he finally shaved it as my Valentine’s Day present (not my only one, but I was very happy!). And every other year, he gets to grow it out before we take our family picture for enclosing in our Christmas cards.
His eyes are so blue and shiny, I could stare into them for hours.
I really could keep going but then I would still be writing this next year when his birthday rolls around. If you've stuck it out this far you may have figured out I kind of like my husband...just a little...it's not an obsession or anything!! Well, maybe just a small one....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAYME!!!!
