He's Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!

Well, the smile on his face when he got off the bus yesterday afternoon said a lot! He excitedly told us about the test and what he had written for the composition. Their prompt was "Tell about a time you found something" and he told a story involving our recurring hunt for the TV remote when something we don't like is coming on next.
His whole aura was different. I hope he will be like this for a while and that when the time comes next month for the reading and math portions of the test, he won't have so much anxiety since he has taken those portions before as a 3rd grader. Incidentally, I was trying to find some information about when the results would be in on the school website. The TAKS information page said that new TEA policy states that a student CANNOT be held back from progressing to the next grade if they fail the TAKS test. That is what their teachers have been telling them all this time. That REALLY pisses me off!
This will be my last post for a little while. Next week is Spring Break (although it isn't even Spring yet) and we are heading out tomorrow and will be gone for a week. In an effort to save money this year (all those hospital bills to pay!), we are just going down to Houston to visit family. After postponing our Christmas trip until it replaced the extra long weekend trip we had planned in January, we have a lot of visiting to make up for. Hopefully I will have some fun adventures to post when we get back home. In the meantime, we wish you all health and happiness and just a little bit of Chaos!

  1. I'm glad Raley feels so great after that awful test! And have fun visiting your family - say hi to everyone for us!

  2. I can't believe they told an eight year old he'd fail if he didn't do well on a government test. That's insane.

I'm glad things are back to normal.
