Fun Fact Friday

**Spring has sprung! Our fruit trees are starting to leaf out and they have the prettiest little flowers on them too. The Redbuds are out in full glory and very soon the Dogwoods will start too. Lovely!

**I am hoping that this weekend we will map out the garden we are planning. There is a great spot for one between our house and our neighbor's. Luckily our neighbors are awesome and they would love to share a garden with us. In fact, Ashley has already procured us some broccoli plants.

**I have noticed that the house doesn't seem so trashed at the end of the day now that all Pattie's toys are in her room. Of course she brings some out and they lay about the floor in the living room, but on the whole it is much cleaner looking in here.

**I am thoroughly enjoying my new recipe blog and I have found a few more that I am researching for ideas. I found a great one just about crockpotting that has a recipe to make your own yogurt! I want to try that out really badly. The lady who writes the blog has a cookbook that I have added to my wishlist.

**Our chickens are cranking out the eggs now. We get between 5 and 7 a day, and given that we only have 7 hens that is pretty impressive. The other day we got two eggs that were so wildly different in size I just had to take a picture:
On an ordinary day we have a wide variety of sizes and shades of brown:

**Have a great weekend, enjoy the weather and the first blush of Spring!

*****UPDATE*****
We cracked open the giant egg for breakfast this morning and it had 2 yolks!

  1. I love that slow cooker food blog! We had her Slow Cooker Garlic Chicken for dinner last night and everyone asked for seconds. That's a miracle in my house!

  2. Fruit trees... chickens... do you live on a farm? And if so, how do you get internet there?

  3. Oh the fresh eggs. I wish I could do that. My husband and I were just talking about that the other day. Maybe some day we'll be able to get our dream house in the country like we want. Then I can get some chickens for eggs. Sounds great to me.
