Last year, a few days after Christmas our 11 year old fake tree fell over in the middle of the living room floor. It's legs all cracked and gave way simultaneously. We took it as a sign; time for a new tree! We decided to look for a new tree on clearance but then we had all of our adventures with pneumonia, so it got shelved to this year. As time went on, I thought that it might be fun to cut our own tree this year and see if we like a real tree versus a fake tree. Then we can still get a fake one on clearance if we want to. After asking a few people in the neighborhood we decided to go to a nice tree farm right here in town. It was so much fun!
There were so many trees to pick from. Some were too small...
Some were too big.....
Pattie and Clay and Raley ran through the lines of trees searching....
Finally we found one that was just right......
Daddy got to work with the saw.....
And in no time at all we had a tree to take home, and a nice picture too.....
It took us a few days to get it completely decorated. We started out with just the lights...
But finally we had the time to get the other decorations on there...
It may not be a picture out of a fancy magazine, but it most definitely a Chaosville-perfect tree. Which it proved to us by falling over into the middle of the living room about 5 minutes after I took this picture. Now it has bungee cords anchored to the wall holding it up, just in case!

I always think I want a real tree, but then the needles and the sap and the cleanup convince me to stick with a prelit fake one.
ReplyDeleteYours does look nice though.
