ch...ch...ch...changes

So I don’t blog very often, even though I have a blog on Blogspot, but I have a few friends that do and I always enjoy reading their stuff. I would like to say that I am too busy to post one regularly, but in all actuality, I am too lazy. I have a thousand ideas for blogs that pop into my mind all the time, but when the time comes and I have the free minutes it would take to type them up and post them, I find myself reading a book or playing on Farm Town or Facebook instead.
My most recent idea was a musing on how our lives will be different in the next months than it has been the last two years. For those of you who don’t know, Jayme (my sweet, wonderful, hard-working husband of 12 wonderful years) has been working Saturday, Sunday and Monday ever since July of 2007. It was an awesome schedule to have then. Pattie was born in September 07 and he was able to spend more time with her than either of the boys. And then the summer of 2008 was a blast!! We were able to do all sorts of things as a family with 4 days a week off. When school started back up for Raley, I put in my application to be a substitute teacher at his school (3rd and 4th grade) and the schools under it. I worked a lot at his school and also the Early Childhood Center (Pre-K and Kindergarten) while Jayme was at home with Pattie and Clay. It was so much fun!! This past summer we were gone probably 60% of the time. Camping, visiting family, having good, solid times as a family that we always enjoy.
Starting October 6th, Jayme schedule will change to the opposite of what he has worked. He will work Tuesday through Friday and have a 3 day weekend every week. This has many implications for us; some great, some good and one or two that are not so great. In no particular order a few of them are:
• We will have weekends as a family again (GREAT)
• Any Monday the boys are out of school, we can go camping (GREAT)
• Jayme’s shift each day will be 10 hours instead of 12 so he will get home just after the boys get home from school (good)
• But since he is salaried not hourly the additional 4 work hours a week will not increase his pay (SUCKS!)
• I will only be available to sub on Mondays and won’t be able to have much income from that (yuck)
• I will only have one day a week with Jayme instead of the four I have gotten so used to (double yuck)
• I will have more time to play on Facebook without nasty, sniping comments (nice)
There are a lot of others, but one thing that keeps me from blogging much is my tendency to make them too long. I think people will get bored when they read them. All in all, this will be a great thing for our family. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll find myself posting more blogs……. :)

  1. That IS a lot of change! I'm sorry you won't be able to sub as much, but it will be nice for you guys to be able to hang out as a family on the weekends. And who knows, if Sydney likes camping, we may be buying a tent and camping on the three day weekends, too!
