Summer Plans

Summer is officially here and we have made our tentative plans for trips and vacations and fun. With Jayme's work schedule (he works Saturday through Monday) we have ample opportunity to travel without him really needing to take time off.First up is our standard "Family Summer Vacation" trip. This one is always somewhere away from home and never to our land in Crockett. In previous years we have gone to Galveston Island State Park but as it was destroyed by Hurricane Ike, we can't do that again. Last year, due to outrageous gas prices, we did a round robin trip to various State Parks within a hour of home/each other. We visited 4 parks in total and stayed at least 2 nights in each. This year we are going to just one park and travel from there to other local places for the day. The park we are going to is McKinney Falls State Park, just south of Austin. From there we will go into Austin and see the Capitol building and watch the bats fly out from the Congress Street bridge and lots of other things. We will also go over to Pedernales Falls State Park for a day. And since we will be so close and I have never been, we are going to San Antonio one day as well. We will go to the zoo, the Alamo and the Riverwalk. Of course we will also have days were we stay at McKinney Falls and enjoy the hiking trails, bike trails, and Onion Creek. It should be loads of fun. We will be there for 8 nights. On our way home from Austin we will go to our land in Houston County and set the trailer up there for the summer. That way we can spend lots of time there during the rest of the summer and not need to spend the extra gas hauling it back and forth to home.Next up will be the weekend trip to my Dad's family reunion at Lake Texoma. Jayme will not be able to go on this trip as it is over the weekend and he will have already taken one off for the month of June, so the kids and I will travel with my folks. The reunion is a lot of fun. We stay at an Air Force Recreation Area on the lake. There are furnished cabins that we stay in and we have a big pot luck meal on Saturday followed by a raffle of things everyone contributes and bingo. Then we have a breakfast on Sunday morning and everyone goes home. Short, but sweet! The very next week we will go to Lake Livingston to the Raley family 4th of July get together. We will swim and eat and visit with the other family memebers that will be there prior to our leaving on Friday (again, Jayme will have to work). We'll be home for a little while then. We have some friends who will be coming to town to a resort in July and hope to see them a time or two during their visit (Jana, Ryan, this means you!!) In the second half of July things really get crazy! We are hoping to go to our land for few days, after which the kids and I will go home with my folks to Crosby. After the weekend Jayme will come down and whisk me off for a much belated honeymoon (we never had one and will celebrate our 12th anniversary in August!). Jayme may or may not go home to work that weekend. He hasn't decided when he will take off for August. I am hoping he takes that weekend off and we can all go to Galveston for the day at least. Either way, the next week (have you lost track of time yet? It will be the first full week of August), the boys will spend between Nana & Papa Raley's house and Uncle Baron & Aunt Tana's house. Not sure yet what Jayme, Pattie and I will do that week, probably the land. Then when we get the boys back we will have one last hurrah at our land before packing up the trailer and taking it back home in time to settle in before school starts for Raley.....AND Clay. Yes that's right folks, Clay will start Kindergarten on August 24th. My how time flies. The only thing left at that point will be the planning for our September Birthday Bash for Clay, Pattie and me which will be Labor Day weekend...y'all come on up!
